Some of What We Did During the Pandemic

We 'got stuck' in Arizona following the funeral of a beloved brother.

We quickly moved into our new place just as the world shut down.

It's been a good place to be.

We did a lot of hiking in the high desert around here, especially in Saguaro National Park's West District.

And, of course, we enjoyed many of Southern Arizona's signature sunsets...

Plus we fed most of the Southwest's bird population in our backyard ...

Every couple of weeks, hot air balloons would come floating down the arroyo beyond our back fence ...

... and every once in awhile, we were visited by Percy, our resident Desert Falcon ...

Caroline brought her gardening expertise to a new love of desert flora ...

... and during the Holidays, we joined with our new neighbors to hang even more lights than normal ...

... and prayed for a better year in 2022!

In Memoriam

Many of us have lost someone to this vile virus. The past 15 months since the world exploded have been really rough.

Among our Tucson friends, one of the deepest cuts was the loss of Alan "Chip" Harrington, a high school classmate and friend to many.

I first met Chip Harrington when my family moved kitty-cornered to his in Tucson between fifth and sixth grade. He and his life's great love, Sandi Seiler Harrington were two of the great spirits of our high school class. Since graduation, Chip and Sandi took it on themselves to help organize our high school reunions--some of the great parties ever. At our 20th reunion, legend has it we broke the parquet dance floor at the historic Arizona Inn in over a dozen places. The last thing I remember Chip saying was after our last big reunion. He went up to the leader of the band whom he and Sandi had hired and exclaimed, "I told you we were dancers!"

Dancers, indeed.

In addition to being a beloved friend, dad and husband, for years Chip was the deeply respected head of Palo Verde Hospital--the mental health wing of Tucson Medical Center.

And together, he and Sandi--a successful travel agent--explored the whole wide world.

A life well lived.
